New RKD-project: online oeuvrecatalogue Herbert Fiedler
Since 2009 the RKD has been collaborating with the Herbert Fiedler Project Foundation on compiling an online catalogue raisonné of the work of Herbert Fiedler (Leipzig 1891-1962 Amsterdam).
Fiedler’s vast oeuvre is spread among numerous private and public collections in the Netherlands and abroad (including the Stedelijk Museum, Amsterdam; Singer Museum, Laren; Museum Van Bommel van Dam, Venlo, Museum Henriette Polak, Zutphen; Berlinische Galerie, Berlin, Museum der bildende Künste, Leipzig, and Marquette Museum, U.S.A).
All of his works are currently being entered into the RKDimages database. Sabine Frank-Fiedler, the artist’s daughter, who has an important private archive, is carrying out this task.
In due course the catalogue raisonné will be added to our digital RKD Monographs series. The online publication will also include the extensive correspondence between Herbert Fiedler and George Grosz (1893-1959), as well as the artist’s previously unpublished autobiography and diaries.
